Why this began
Recycling became a practical way to help Sophia.
Before Sophia was born, her father set aside savings to help pay for the expected costs of her birth and routine follow-up appointments. At that time, the family had no reason—and no available technology—to know that Sophia would be medically fragile.
As hospital visits, specialist care, therapy, nutrition, medical supplies, and travel later became part of family life, the purpose of setting money aside changed. A dedicated medical fund and this recycling fundraiser developed in response to needs the family learned about only after Sophia was born.
Her father saw that many unwanted items still had value. Aluminum could be recycled, books and household goods could find another owner, and sale proceeds could help with recurring expenses. That practical effort to provide for his daughter grew into Cline's Recycling Initiative.
